The Battle for Britannia: Ships of Britannia, Book 5 by E. M. Kkoulla
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
There are always strong expectations when reading a fiction book series and specifically when reaching the final volume. Basically it’s the fear of the story falling flat on the finishing line.
“The Battle for Britannia” passes this test with flying colours. All the worry vanished a few pages in, and I felt at home. All the factors are there: The ships, the fantasy, the magic, the gods; and your band of the resilient resistance going through ordeals, changes, and the plots of the wily adversary. There is no free lunch for the protagonists, a factor I always value high.
The script has managed to stay epic, coherent and gripping all five books and is worth reading, I daresay, more than once. It is one of those stories you wish would be made into a film.
