My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read several fiction book series from independent authors lately, I have been extremely lucky with my expectations as none of the volumes have been weaker than their predecessors. The creators have been able to retain the momentum, the excitement, the spine of their multi-volume stories.
How about a non-fiction series?
There is more at stake. Especially if your history book is not just a dull listing of events, but smart in building the line, irreverent towards persistent myths, and witty in telling about the moments when great ideas were born.
‘Lightbulb Moments in Human History: From Cave to Colosseum’ dropped my jaw to the floor more than once, killing false notions of certain historical events. The book was a bullseye hit in my eyes, bowing to no-one in its richly and honestly written contents.
Did Scott Edwin Williams keep the thus created responsibility towards the history and readers?
‘Book II: Peasants to Periwigs’ manages to continue the wonderful history in same spirit as its predecessor. The wit, the irreverence, the humor and the images are all there, digging into details with praise and with the whip. Yet the book retains the most important factor, objectivity in front of the history.
The interludes are still there as well, contemplating author’s own point of view in front of the canvas of the civilization’s history.
I am delighted of the way Mr. Williams handles the neo-simplicity that is spreading along the digital highways. Pseudo-sciences and plain stupidity against multiply proven facts get their due between the covers of these superb works.
A total reading recommendation!

‘Lightbulb Moments in Human History Book II: From Peasants to Periwigs’ is available at Amazon, but the author is also happy if you find it in independent bookstores.
