The first round around the Sun for my novel ‘Harmsleave’ was completed Sunday 5th May 2024.
Contrary to my expectations I’m not writing this from the sun deck of my superyacht I bought with my royalties and filming rights. Neither I am writing this from the bottom of my inflatable boat. I don’t have even that, though there is a rotting rowboat somewhere under the ever growing bushes at our cabin.
Not that there haven’t been any sales, but the real success has left me waiting. Which is totally an incorrect term since putting something out into market and waiting for a miracle to happen is just stupid.
As the creator, I should keep in mind that the book is good. Heck, I’ve been told it’s good, and not by my family, or the cat. So, keeping the faith, unwaveringly. Like I said a couple of blogs ago.

It’s the marketing, folks. Like I said a couple of blogs ago. But there simply isn’t a single clear and exact recipe to grow sales. The recipe I have been using is just add flour and eggs, mix and insert into oven and leave it there. No details and the oven is not even properly turned on.
Okay, it is also the question if your welfare is depending on that success. Or then again, like me, I just created something and want to sell it, no panic; my life is not totally ruined if there’s no success.
So anyway, the clear and exact recipe is needed. It is for that correct target group somewhere out there that must be found. A needle in a haystack. Find the correct words, find a better blurb, a better catch phrase; find the form.

There’s a slight problem though: I’m not certain about my target group. The story has so many different elements that it may scatter the audience to like one part and hate the other. Needless to say, especially to the writers out there, knowing your audience is crucial. Just another thing to solve.
To the curious I can just tell my marketing platforms have been social media and Amazon itself(Amazon Ads system, which is not easy to explain, let’s just say you pay for each click into your product page).
A superyacht is slight exaggeration. Along the success of that magnitude I would just build a huge timber cottage(with a tower, always with a tower) far enough from the civilization. And still have a fixed optical connection available.
